The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong

The Awakening (Darkest Powers, #2)The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong

This was taken from goodreads.com/jess_readerwriter, I wrote the review freely and I apologize if the reviews are not written in a professional manner.

Synopsis:
If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization called the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control; I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.
Now I'm running for my life with three of my supernatural friends—a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch—and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.

My rating: 4 stars of 5
Felt a little slow in the beginning
Romance wasn't there

A round of applause for another fantastic book by Kelley Armstrong!

I'm just going to get to the point and not be too chatty. I don't want to write one huge, boring review that talks about nothing.

Rae, Tori, and Chloe are trapped in the hands of the Edison Group, a group that has been conducting experiment on supernaturals for years. The longer Chloe's there, the more she learns about who these people are and how bad they are. Davidoff asks Chloe if she'd help be bait to lure in Derek and Simon, Tori jumps in and says, while Chloe's doing that, she wants to go shopping. On their way out to their field trip, Tori is actually planning on an escape and escapes with Chloe, leaving Aunt Lauren to the Edison Group.

When they finally reach the guys, they're on the move when their original hiding spot is a no-go. They catch a bus so they can try to make it to a family friend, Andrew. When on a rest stop, Derek is about to go into a werewolf change and has to get off the bus, Chloe follows him, to help him and be there for him. The bus ends up leaving without them and the story takes an awfully wild turn.

I loved this book, can't say I loved it as much as the first. But the characters are developing more, you learn more about their powers and I think I've picked who I want Chloe to like: Derek. Just because he's like the friendly giant!

Onto The Reckoning!
