The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong

The Reckoning (Darkest Powers, #3)The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong

This was taken from goodreads.com/jess_readerwriter, I wrote the review freely and I apologize if the reviews are not written in a professional manner.

Synopsis:  Fifteen-year-old Chloe Saunders and her friends Tori, Simon, and Derek are genetically altered supernaturals on the run from the evil corporation that created them. Hiding out with a family friend, they are trying to make sense of their predicament and discover what sinister plans the Edison Group has in store for them. As a powerful necromancer who can raise the dead in her sleep, Chloe struggles to control her abilities and figure out how to best use them to keep everyone safe. To further complicate matters (as if running for your life were not enough), Chloe wrestles with her feelings for Simon, a good-natured sorcerer, and Derek, a misunderstood werewolf.

My rating: 4 stars of 5
Ending left loose ends
Romance picked up

The I N G books! The Summoning, The Awakening, The Reckoning, and now.. The Gathering! Personally, if this were me, I'd start running out of things to call it. I'm going to be honest with you, when I started reading this book I had no idea what reckoning meant. . . . Guess what?! I still don't. Sort of. The whole point is. . . . I was a little lost with this book.

No, I didn't get confused on what in the hell was happening. Most of it was clearly written but, the end. . . . It just seemed like there were so many loose strings! I mean, seriously. The book left off with everyone talking about how they have to leave again and they need to find Rae and the other subjects. Then it ends. That's it. The end. Buh-bye. See ya later.

The book starts where it left off in The Awakening. I don't know about you, but sometimes I get a little angry when the next book in the series starts off like, 6 months after the events in the previous book. Our characters are growing and we are still in the safe house with Andrew. Chloe, Tori, Derek, and Simon are all now being trained, or taught. Margaret is giving lessons to Chloe and the lessons begin in a graveyard. Chloe warns her that she shouldn't be there, that she could raise the dead if they practiced there but, no. Margaret insists that Chloe is crazy, she is inexperienced and obviously can't do such things. Unfortunately, it happens (Of course). As the story goes on, Derek finally becomes a full-fledged werewolf, with Chloe by his side. Then there is a sudden turn of events when another werewolf is trying to kill him, sent by someone that isn't the Edison Group. Our plot moves along as Simon develops feelings for Chloe but realizes there is someone else. As the plot thickens, Tori finds emails including several things that shows that they aren't safe anymore and they need to get out and escape. Guess you'll have to read the rest to find out. . . . (:

Now, I put in my shelves/tags that it had a bad ending. I guess it wasn't really bad, but it wasn't good. I expected more. There are questions left unanswered and you feel like it was almost a cliff hanger but I have a feeling there most definitley won't be another and we're all just going to have to move onto Kelley Armstrong's new trilogy, Darkness Rising.
