Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

This was taken from goodreads.com/jess_readerwriter, I wrote the review freely and I apologize if the reviews are not written in a professional manner.

Synopsis:  Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark won the annual competition described in Hunger Games, but the aftermath leaves these victors with no sense of triumph. Instead, they have become the poster boys for a rebellion that they never planned to lead. That new, unwanted status puts them in the bull's-eye for merciless revenge by The Capitol.

My rating: 5 stars of 5
Cliff hanger
Brand new dilemma (I wasn't sure how Suzanne was going to pull it off, but she did)

Oh, my. I WANTED TO THROW THIS BOOK AT THE WALL. Not because I didn't like it. . . . BUT BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE NEXT BOOK YET. HURRY UP, WESTERVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY. HURRY. This book made me cry. So did the last one so, what's new?

This book takes place almost right after the games. Peeta and Katniss are going on the Victory Tour which is where they tour all the other districts (Probably didn't have to explain that. . . .) Anyway, Peeta and Katniss say/do startling things during their speeches which causes the Capitol to get extremely angry. As you know, Peeta and Katniss didn't leave off on such a hot note in the last book so, things are patched up and the whole "star-crossed lovers/madly in loooooove" stuff is taken on a whole new level when Katniss finds out that she has to be in the Quell. The Quarter Quell (I think that's what it's called) is where there is technically another Hunger Games but it only happens every 25 years. Originally, Katniss and Peeta were to be mentors for the District 12 tributes but then the rules are changed (Because, you know, THE CAPITOL JUST LOVES TO INFLICT PAIN ON EVERY ONE). The rules are changed to where victors of the Hunger Games are to fight in the arena. Which means Katniss and either Peeta or Haymitch have to fight again. I'm just gonna say this right now, it's Peeta. Obviously. Anyway, Peeta and Katniss say more startling things and Cinna even pulls a trick of his own which leads him to punishment. While the Quell is going on, the districts are revolting and there are rumors of a secret community under District 13. I SHALL SAY NO MORE. :)

This was better than the first book. You are introduced to several new characters that I attached to easily and the romance is seriously hiked up. This book has a LOT more violence but, that's alright. Gale is not particularly a huge character in this book yet again so if you're Team Gale, I think it's safe to say that it might just be all Peeta. Team Peeta!
